The Digital Fall Alarm does not need a telephone landline. It connects using the mobile phone network instead.
This means it is unaffected by the UK’s Digital Switchover, which is replacing the traditional analogue telephone network with digital phone services. Some older personal alarms that rely on a landline may need to be upgraded or adapted as part of this change.
The Digital Fall Alarm has two pre-fitted multi-network SIMs and automatically connects to the strongest available mobile network.
Many customers who have a weak mobile signal at home can still use the alarm, as the multi-network SIMs automatically connect to the strongest available network, supported by a large internal antenna in the base unit.
If you are concerned about the mobile signal where you live, please call Taking Care on freephone 0800 023 4327 for advice. Lines are open Monday – Friday, 9am – 6pm.
You can find out more about the digital switchover in Taking Care's Resources and Advice hub or on the Openreach website.
There are no additional phone or data charges – these are included in your subscription.
